Emerald Coast Realtors® Raise $5,000 to Support Elder Services
Destin, FL – The Emerald Coast Association of Realtors® (ECAR) Community and Military Outreach Committee hosted a barbecue cook-off on Saturday that raised $5,000 for the Elder Services of Okaloosa County facilities Twin Cities Pavilion and Crestview Manor. The event was held in conjunction with partners 3rd Planet Brewing Co., Beach Mortgage, Centennial Bank, Bright Light Land Title Co. and HWA Home Warranty of America.
Participants had the option of entering their barbecue to be judged or to simply attend and enjoy the best local home pit masters had to offer and cast their vote for their favorites.
While guests enjoyed the lunch, organizers said the real fun was raising funds for aging adults in the community who need a helping hand.
“The goal of the Community and Military Outreach Committee is just what our name says – to help those in our community,” said CAMO Committee Chair Tammy Summers. “We were proud to raise funds to help support the important services Elder Services of Okaloosa County provides. This is just our way of saying thank you.”
Summers and Co-Chair Dana Topel lead a committee of 30 dedicated Realtors® and Affiliate Members committed to serving the community.
Attendees enjoyed local craft beer from 3rd Planet Brewing Co. as part of the entry fee. Local favorite DJ Dan Davis provided the entertainment as attendees sampled the barbecue and helped support an important community partner. “We are so thankful to The Emerald Coast Association of Realtors® and their CAMO Committee for this amazing event,” said Executive Director for Elder Services of Okaloosa County Kim Fraley. “These funds will help support the many ways our agency provides needed services to the aging population in our facilities. It really will make a difference.”
